Cemex Deal

SHAKING ON IT Roger Bird hands over the keys to Craig Williamson of CEMEX – Burnt Tree’s latest large contract

A NEW CONTRACT HAS KEPT BURNT TREE ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS.

Burnt Tree Vehicle Solutions, one of Britain’s most successful vehicle rental companies, has won a substantial contract with a company that maintains the nation’s highways.

Burnt Tree Vehicle Solutions, based in Attercliffe,Sheffield, impressed CEMEX Surfacing Ltd – a division of CEMEX UK, the buildingmaterials provider – with its proposal to replace a substantial part of its fleet, securing a contract to supply 20 custom fitted vans in a deal worth £500,000 over three years. Burnt Tree has provided six and eight-seat mess vans, crew cab tippers with tail lifts and fitters’ vans complete with a full maintenance package to CEMEX Surfacing Ltd, one of the countries leading road surfacing contractors specialises in schemes from major highway and airfield works to smaller surfacing works on car parks.

Burnt Tree sourced the vehicles and arranged for them to be customised by Clarks Vehicle Conversions Ltd of Doncaster to CEMEX specifications. Some of the vehicles have been equipped with washroom and mess facilities and in the interest of safety, all have reversing cameras. Roger Bird, area sales manager based at Burnt Tree’s Sheffield branch in Attercliffe, said CEMEX Surfacing Ltd was impressed with his company’s very competitive pricing, attention to detail, and the second to none back-up and maintenance package.

Roger said: “It’s a very good deal. CEMEX came to us because its workforce are constantly under pressure to keep the motorway network open and they work all hours, night and day. They know we can supply vehicles to its specifications and provide a fleet management package which supplies guaranteed back up 24/7, 365 days a year. CEMEX can’t afford downtime from broken down vehicles so fleet maintenance is paramount. We have taken the hassle out of motoring for them, like we do for all our customers.”

Roger has been in the rental industry for over ten years and joined Burnt Tree three years ago. The Sheffield branch now manages a fleet size of over 750 vehicles.

Roger added: “We have a strong team here at Sheffield and I believe any company with the right staff having the right attitude towards  customers are the basic fundamentals to any business success.” Burnt Tree Vehicle Solutions celebrated 25 years in business in 2008 and has 17 branches in the UK,including Sheffield, where it has been established for 15 years. Nationally, it has become a major player in the vehicle rental industry, currently supplying long and short term vehicle rental as well as contract hire, and has a total of 8,000 vehicles with a fleetmix of cars vans and trucks up to 44t tractor units supplying businesses ranging from one-man owner/drivers to blue chip companies running fleets in excess of 100 vehicles.

Roger added: “We offer flexibility which is invaluable to all businesses, particularly in the current economic climate in which nobody knows what is around the corner. “Contract hire offers financial and operational advantages to companies who traditionally buy their vehicle fleet. Those that buy their fleets are tying up money in depreciating assets. Customers can budget accurately knowing the extent of their monthly outgoings on vehicles and all of our customers, whether they contract for five or 100-plus vehicles, can be assured that they will receive the same level of service from Burnt Tree.”
